Hello All, I'm currently in the market to buy a new 8 ton excavator and would like opinions on which 1 to buy. I have all of the major brands dealers within 50 miles of me with Cat, Bobcat & John Deere being the closest. I'm currently getting prices on a Takeuchi TB 290, Bobcat E88, Cat 308 & 309, Deere 85P, Kubota KX 080-5, Case & Kobelco. Hey guys, looking for your opinions; Planning on buying a new 8 tonne excavator, either dealer will take our 420D backhoe in on trade, and give a great trade value for it, plus 0% financing. We have narrowed it down to either a Kubota KX080-4, or a Wacker Neuson ET-90 (9 tonne) Still looking at. They have a published model for a 5 metric ton machine (24" long shank, 2" wide T-1 steel, weight ??) & then jump to a model for a 12, 15 & 20 metric ton machine (30" long shank, 2.5" wide T-1 steel, weight 625 lbs). So, it will be interesting to see what they come up with. If you have enough trucks to keep the excavator CONSTANTLY running, you might hit 70-75% load factor. Spoil piling, as in cross country, could hit 80-85%. Waiting on trucks could lower the load factor down to 50-60% and the same with fuel comsumption.
