I purchased 4 ratchet straps(3" polyester web w/ratchet mech. & hooks both ends)to secure my skid steer to the trailer.They've 3300lbs working capacity & 10K breaking strength each,and they're DOT approved. They're quick too hook up,and don't come loose like chains with lever load binders.

You better get some GOOD tie downs. Not those cheap d-rings. get some good tie down chains and binders. Have the proper weight ratings in both the tie downs and chains and binders. My question is do most of you that use dumps to haul skid-steers tie them down? My trailer is a Big Tex 12LX, there are no tie downs in the bed. I will probably be adding them. Each securement strap must have a default WLL limit of 2,268 kgs (5012 lbs) A 4 inch strap only has 1,810 kgs(4000lbs) So in order to meet the default WLL of tie downs for securing heavy equipment, you have to use chains. You’ve got the type that just throws one 2” ratchet strap over the roof of a skid steer and hits the highway, and the other extreme (usually large corporate or government types) that have 5 individual chains and binders on a 1.8 ton min ex.
This will last longer, take more abuse and when wheels chocked, can allow you to load the trailer without the tow unit attached. Fully enclosed wiring in harnesses will help with maintence issues. Spring assist ramps are nice on the back. Extra tie downs for sure for who know what in the future. We are looking at Towmaster/BigTow for our choice.

A guy I work with wants to use rachet straps to tie down our skid steers (773, S205, S150) I always use chains and 3 rachet binders when I tow them. I know the straps are rated for I believe 10k but I just feel much safer using chains and . I carry my small skid steer in my wells cargo enclosed trailer. But it is quite a small skid steer (only 2k lbs). It can be done. If you were going to strictly use it for the skid steer. I would get barn doors on the rear and then use standard skid loader ramps to load and unload.
Tight. Your best bet would be to weld on some heavy duty D rings on either the side or rear of the bucket. I got some last year from Tractor Supply, I think they were rated at 12,000lbs. and they were only like 10 bucks a piece. We attached with ratcheting tie .
