Is the normal, is Cat typically that much higher or are folks getting a competitive price from a dealer? I'll get a little better price and I know Cat gets a premium, but was surprised it's that much. The Cat 259D3 and Kubota SVL75-2 compact track loaders both have a gross power rating of 74.3 horsepower, but the Cat 259D3 comes in ahead with a 73.2 net horsepower rating — 4.4 horses more than the Kubota model.
In my opinion, Bobcat, Cat, Kubota, Takeuchi, Case, & JD are all very solid and will work well for him. If mobility is an issue for him now or in the foreseeable future, JCB makes a side entry skid steer which I have heard is much easier to get in and out of.
I'm considering these 3 machines. Cat seems expensive, but sure runs quiet & has a really nice interior (if you're on the smaller side - which I am). JD's claim is highest lifting capacity with many devotees. Kubota - love the orange, seems noisy, and many people seem to love it. I can learn from the wisdom and experience of those here.
