best excavator reviews I'm starting to look around for a 6 ton (ish) mini/mid size excavator. There seems to be a lot of 5 and 5.5 ton machine from the different manufacturers, however, once you get to the 6 to 6.5 ton mark, the choices seem to be pretty limited. I currently run a JD50C, which has been a pretty good machine. It's a bit slow, but very reliable.

In my opinion the best Excavator on the market is Komatsu. I work for a large sewer and water contractor in the Chicago area and all our excavators are Komatsu. In my 16 years as an Operating Engineer I have operated every brand of excavator and I believe the komatsu is the best. The old Cat's were good but the Komatsu blows them away today. There is company called cael in Canada that imports these machines but charge k plus tax when factory charges k plus customs,etc. These machines don't seem to have model numbers or.
So Yanmar had to blur out the names on the competitors. From the colors, it sure looked like Volvo, Cat, Kubota, and a couple other I don't recognize. Anyway, the Yanmar trenched faster and consumed 15% less than the best of the others. As for the lifting comparison, it's useful to me.
