how to make skid steer grapple lighter I also looked at the weight of the grapple: the lighter the grapple, the more lifting . If you have buckets from before cut off the ears and weld on the connection. The change of bucket is also really easy, and it's done in seconds. An quick coupler for an 4tonn .

I actually had a 3" bore cylinder but if I sank the teeth too deep into stuff I might do more damage trying to get stuff out of the grapple. So far it works awesome for the job I built it for. Thanks and have a great day !!!
I've been trying to find plans or templates for a homemade grapple. I've been taking measurements off skid-steer grapples and measuring my quick connect on my Kubota tractor. I found this video on youtube.
I also looked at the weight of the grapple: the lighter the grapple, the more lifting weight can be applied to your intended material to move. Smaller tractors start being a bit strained when they reach their max and it is never the limit you want when you are trying to do a job. People have made grapple buckets, log splitters, even their own backhoe attachments, pallet forks. The only attachment i have made were a set of pallet forks from an old forklift carriage. I have used the aux hydraulic couplers to power hydraulic gear before though.
I made wood templates of the grapple arms so i could get my steel yard to cut them out of 3/4" plate on there CNC table. I welded on 4 excavator teeth, did lots of pre heat and 3 passes. Also welded on 2 chain hooks for easy chain points if ever get the skid steer stuck or need to drag something. I will gradually increase loads to see how much it takes to get the skid tippy - just so I know. But I don't see me lifting really heavy weight with it anyway. The 10 foot pole, plus the skid's lift gives me about 25 feet at max lift.
Here's a little video I made on my very first fabrication project. A root rake / grapple It cost me less than 00 to build and I could have built it for.
6 grapple loads cut split and stacked in around 40-45 minutes. Worked super slick and we figure that serious progress could be made in the normal 2-3 hour summer cutting routine this way. Sorry no pictures but I think you guys can envision this. So, if you need a grapple for your tractor or your SKIDSTEER, anything else for the front-end loader, anything for the three-point hitch, we're happy to help.
