I have an early 260 skid steer, bought used with 4000 hrs. The parking brake never did work, well finally got around to getting a manual in CD format. I have tested the solenoid and the switch both test ok. Next is pages of circuits and wiring. I have a John Deere 280 II skid steer. Over the past several weeks, I have had an issue where the parking brake engages intermittently while the machine is in use.
My 250 won't let the park brake disconnect. Have checked all switchs. It acts as a lock for the pedals so they can't move when the park brake is engaged. One of them was drawing enough current to blow the fuse. These are pretty easy fixes but a real pain. If your parking brake is giving trouble, check seat switch, then seat belt switch, then park lock switch, then replace the dash with the updated one with wire harness.
