Anyway, I need to build a ramp for this. Here's what I'm thinking: 2 separate ramps. Each ramp would start out with 2x8's (?) set up like joists. All lumber will be pressure treated. The joists will be spanned by a single 2x12 (the machine has 7" tracks, giving myself extra room) between the joists will be ribs, every 2', made from 2x8's as well.Discount Ramps offers tough, heavy-duty aluminum ramps to efficiently load heavy construction and agricultural equipment. I want to build a set of steel loading ramp's to put my 9000lb tractor onto my deck over trailer which is approx 32" high. Any suggestions as to what size material to use. Thanks
My ramps are similar to Shield Arcs but made out of 2" square tube with 2" angle cross members. The leg going down is 3" channel. I would hazard a guess that Shield Arc didn't build his ramps. The leg is important as it prevents lifting force on the coupler.

The ramps have no "legs" on them. How do most people support the back of the trailer when loading?
Four foot ramps should be fine if you back on and drive off, though I would be a little leary of driving up them without the bucket. Test it slowly.
