I have steel ott tracks for when I am pushing a lot of dirt but a heavier tired machine does pretty well without them. Though even with ott tracks a tired machine won't be a smooth as a ctl. ive operated both. we have a T190 bobcat and ive operated a 902 CAT. skid steers are better for final grading and landscape jobs and are really handy because they can of course turn on a dime. a compact wheel loader would be better loading and unloading stuff and moving stuff. as for tracks vs tires on a skid steer i like tracks more. they dont . I just bought a set of Hi Qual s wave tracks about 2 months ago. So far I love them. They outweigh my previous generic C Pad tracks by a lot and are thicker. They pull like a straight bar but ride nicer on hard ground. I got a little over 100 hours on them and they still have the casting marks on the tread blocks. The OEM tires that came on my skid steer are worn out with less than 200 hours on them. I am operating the machine in tough rocky Texas Hill Country, but I think there must be a tougher tire out there better suited for the application I need.
